Meet the Sober Globetrotter
Traveling with clarity, creativity, and curiosity—one honest day at a time.
Hi, I’m Ginny Dee, and I’m an alcoholic.
That’s not the whole story—but it’s where this one begins.
I got sober in 2020—and my whole world promptly fell apart. But it was travel that pulled me back from the abyss. It showed me that every loss, every piece of life that had crumbled away, was also a little more freedom gained.
Sobriety cracked my world open. It gave me clarity, presence, and the courage to stop running. It gave me my curiosity back.
Now, I explore the world with open eyes, open heart, and (let’s be honest) an overpacked suitcase—eating, photographing, and writing my way through the messy, magical in-between.
These days, I wander. I experience new cultures through their cuisine, ask too many questions, and chase every weird little whisper of wonder I can find.
The Sober Globetrotter is where I try to make sense of it all—a space for sobriety stories, travel stories, and sober travel stories. It’s home to cultural deep dives, chaotic adventures, spiritual detours, and the kind of growth that only comes when you stop running and start really looking… and let yourself get deeply uncomfortable sometimes.
I believe in honest storytelling, strange beauty, second chances, and the quiet power of doing things differently.
I believe in surrendering to hope.
Love,
Ginny Dee

P.P.S. Yes, “Ginny Dee” is a pen name. It gives me space to share honestly while protecting the privacy of the people in my life—especially the ones who didn’t ask to be characters in my recovery story.

You can also find me sharing chaos and travel stories over on the social medias:
I’d love to hear from you!
